CANOLA
Adults are white with several black markings on the wings with a wingspan of about 45 mm. They may be seen flying about in the field from early spring to late fall. Larvae are velvety-green with a faint yellow dorsal stripe and a row of yellow spots running laterally along the body. Mature larvae are about 30 mm long. Eggs are oblong, white to cream colored, but eventually turns yellowish. The egg is laid on it's end on the underside of leaves. The shape of the egg is sometimes described as resembling a football.

Aphid is sucking pest which sucks cell sap from tender plant parts. They damage leaves and tissues. Sign of damage are leaves not opening properly and being smaller in size. Severe infestation can cause shoots to wilt and dry. Aphids having wings, can transfer viruses (Potato virus Y and potato leaf roll virus) from one plant to others. They secrete honey dew that stimulates black sooty mold which hinders photosynthesis. Consequently, farmer may suffer heavy yield loss.

Grasshoppers are medium to large insects. Adult length is 1 to 7 centimetres, depending on the species.
